The sea contains all sorts of objects that get washed up on the shore. Some of them are natural, like shells and driftwood, but many are things like plastic bags and plastic products that people have thrown into the sea. We inspect each object, be it natural or man-made, decide whether it is suitable to become part of an imaginary “beautiful creature,” and if necessary reshape it into a form appropriate for our workshops. These objects, collected by our hands and inspected by our eyes, are not just rubbish; they harbour the potential for new life as a raw material. Participants in our workshops use these materials to create beautiful imaginary creatures. This gives them an opportunity to think about the responsibility that comes with using things, not just as an concept, but as something they can actually experience.
海にはさまざまな漂流物が流れつく。その中には貝殻や流木といった自然のものもあれば、人間が海に流してしまったビニールやプラスチック製品などの産業廃棄物も多く含まれる。私たちはその両方（天然・人工）の漂流物を一点一点点検し、架空の「美しい生き物」をつくるのに相応しいパーツになるか判断し、必要に応じてワークショップに適した形に成形した。こうして人の目と手を通して集められた漂流物は、単なるごみではなく、新しい素材としての命を宿す。ワークショップの参加者たちは、それらの素材を使って架空の「美しい生き物」を制作する。それにより、参加者にとって人間が本来考えるべき「つかう責任」を単なる知識に止まらず、身体を通して考えるきっかけとなるだろう。
