Sounds from Liminal Towns

本企画では、長期に渡り日本に在住している美術・音楽分野の外国人研究者二名が自分たちの将来について熟考していき、郊外に住む外国人女性シニアと共に、現在の環境と国境を越えた記憶に関するフィールドレコーディング、オーラルヒストリーを共同制作します。私たちの個々、および集合的記憶を版画技法で複製に刷り、ブックアートのような分解した箱の形で一緒に展示します。日本国内在住の外国人女性の物語を通し、社会問題である超高齢化社会と移住の関連性を扱います。

In this project, two international researchers in the fields of art and music, who are long-term residents of Japan will contemplate their future in collaboration with foreign women seniors living in rural areas, to create field recordings and oral histories of their current environment and transnational memories. Our individual and collective memories will be printed as reproductions using printmaking techniques and displayed together with the soundtrack in the form of exploded boxes, similar to book art. Through the stories of foreign women living in Japan, we will address the relevance of migration to the social issue of super-aging society.
